Elective pilot courses may be submitted for Spring or Fall terms; courses that are part of new curriculum or program changes may be submitted only in Spring for offering in Fall. (form)

Fall Semester Activities - for courses offered in Spring 08, including J-Session

10/5 (or earlier)	Spring 08 and J-Session pilot courses proposed by Departmental Curriculum Committees to Associate Dean and School Curriculum Committee for progressive review. Deadline is 10/5
10/5 - 10/19	School Curriculum Committee reviews and requests changes if appropriate from departments; delivers proposals under review to Dean with recommendations.
10/19-22	Deans decide. Associate Deans review for overlap. Deans’ Semester Curricular Review.
10/22	Scheduling pauses for Spring 07. Departments make no changes to schedule for one week. (Week allows additional time if necessary for Deans’ deliberations).
10/29	Schedule posted for students for Spring 07, including J-Session. Departments may make final adjustments to schedule until 11/5.
11/5	Registration open for Spring 07, including J-Session
11/16	School curriculum committee reviews new curriculum (see schedule below).

Pilot Courses for Summer 08 and Fall 08

Spring Semester Activities -for courses offered in Spring 08, including J-Session

2/15 (or earlier)	Summer 08 pilot courses proposed by Departmental Curriculum Committees deliver to Associate Dean and to members of School Curriculum Committee for progressive review. Deadline is 2/15. Note that this is also the deadline for Pilot-to-Permanent (see below).
2/15-29	School Curriculum Committee reviews and requests changes if appropriate from departments; delivers proposals under review to Dean with recommendations.
2/25-29	Deans decide. Associate Deans review for overlap.
3/7-10	Summer schedule closes 3/7; schedule posted 3/10
3/17	Summer registration opens.
3/7 (or earlier)	Fall 08 pilot courses proposed by Departmental Curriculum Committees deliver to Associate Dean and to members of School Curriculum Committee for progressive review. Deadline is 3/7.
3/7-21	School Curriculum Committee reviews and requests changes if appropriate from departments; delivers proposals under review to Dean.
3/17-21	Deans decide. Associate Deans review for overlap. Deans’ Semester Curricular Review
3/24	Scheduling pauses for Fall 08. Departments make no changes to schedule for one week. (Week allows additional time if necessary for Deans’ deliberations). (note: Spring Break begins 3/24: faculty away but staff available.)
3/31	Schedule posted for students for Fall 08. Departments may make final adjustments to schedule until 4/7.
4/7	Registration open for Fall 08.

Pilot to Permanent and Changes to Existing Courses

Pilot Courses are eligible for conversion to permanent status after two semesters of classroom experience, and must be reviewed for permanent status within three years of the original pilot proposal approval. These may be submitted only in Spring for offering in Fall.

Changes to existing (non-pilot courses) – titles, pre-reqs, descriptions, course number, credits – and

Changes to Program Requirements – majors, minors, concentrations.

2/15 (or earlier)	Departmental Curriculum Committees submits proposals to Associate Dean and to members of School Curriculum Committee for progressive review. Deadline is 2/15.
2/15-29	School Curriculum Committee reviews and requests changes if appropriate from departments; delivers proposals under review to Dean with recommendations.
2/25-29	Associate Deans review for overlap. School Dean approves for permanent status.
3/1	Program Requirements delivered for sub-audit.
a.s.a.p	Reported to Academic Affairs as Point of Information.

New Curriculum

Majors, Minors, Certificate and Degree Programs are considered in the Fall Semester, to begin their “Year Zero” in the following academic year.

10/22 (or earlier)	Departmental Curriculum Committee prepares academic program proposal with budget. Associate Dean facilitates development of proposal packet materials. Deadline is Oct. 22.
11/16	School Curriculum Committee reviews for overlap and recommends academic proposal with budget.
12/7	Proposal sent to Academic Affairs and Budget and Priorities for review. Both committees recommend to College Council as soon as possible and prudent.
a.s.a.p.	College Council reviews and recommends, with Provost's approval.
a.s.a.p	President approves or rejects.
