Graduate Commencement

Commencement takes place each May.  If you are finishing your degree in the summer or fall term, you may participate in the ceremony.  If you are planning to "walk", make sure you let the Graduate Office know by submitting your Graduation Application.

There are three ceremonies this year all taking place at the UIC Pavilion (525 South Racine Avenue).  Getting here...

Participation in the ceremony does not constitute graduation. You graduate when the degree is posted.

If you are a graduating student and have special needs or require any type of assistance during the Commencement Ceremony, please email jsummers@colum.edu.

If you are a guest with special needs, the ushers at the UIC Pavilion will be ready and waiting to assist you.  There are elevators to access all seating and wheelchairs are easily accommodated.

Announcements
Complimentary generic graduation announcements are available in batches of ten from the Graduate Office Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.  The Grad Office is located at 600 S. Michigan Ave., Suite 200.   


Cap & Gown Pick-up
Your cap and gown will be available on Tuesday, May 13 & Wednesday, 14 from 9am to 6pm at 731 S. Plymouth Court, The Court.  If you cannot pick up your robe on these days, you can obtain it immediately before the ceremony on at the UIC Pavilion. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED and you should make every effort to obtain your robe during robe pickup!

Photographs
Chappell Graduation Images provides the photography services for Columbia's graduation ceremony. Each year, Chappell photographs a third of all college graduates in the U.S. Your picture will be taken at the ceremony, and you will receive proofs of your photographs about one week after graduation. **IF YOU DO NOT WISH COLUMBIA TO RELEASE YOUR MAILING ADDRESS TO CHAPPELL, please email written notice to jsummers@colum.edu. Proofs will also be available at the Chappell web site. Please visit www.chappell.com for more information.
