Project Summary: Thousands of Vietnamese war refugees can now retrace their paths, returning to live, work, or reunite with family, carrying elements of their new material culture, and mixing it with their native one. The Things I Carry consists of a series of photographs and handmade artist's books portraying landscapes and still lives, and focused on questions of migration, assimilation, and hybridization.
